Xiaomi ends support for HyperOS 2
Xiaomi ends support for HyperOS 2 – full shift to HyperOS 3 based on Android 16
Xiaomi has officially concluded the development of HyperOS 2 and is now fully focused on HyperOS 3, which is expected to be based on Android 16. This information surfaced via the Xiaomi Feedback app.
According to a developer, no further improvements or updates will be made for HyperOS 2. All eligible devices have already received their final version, and development efforts are now redirected toward releasing HyperOS 3 on time.
HyperOS 3 aims to deliver several enhancements, including smoother animations, improved visual effects, better system responsiveness, a refined UI, and an overall optimized user experience. Although some of these details remain vague, the focus is clearly on major UX improvements.
Interestingly, Xiaomi may name the new version HyperOS 26 to align with the release year.
Unfortunately, there's no official timeline or confirmed device list for the update yet.
In related news, nine Xiaomi devices will receive their final security updates in September, after which support will end:
Redmi A1, A1+, Poco C50, Xiaomi 11T, 11T Pro, Mi 11 Lite 5G NE, Mi 11 LE, Poco M5, and Redmi 11 Prime 4G.
That marks the end of official support for those models.
